Stationery to Motivate

You’ve attempted resolutions, you’ve written goals on every available surface and you still can’t bring yourself to get back to the gym (me neither). So, what’s next for getting that tush in gear? Some great stationery of course! Although it’s not yet been scientifically proven that a beautiful notebook or planner can help actually get you to the nearest treadmill (ahem), there is something pretty spectacular about the kind of motivation and drive a few lined pages and organising can do for ones productivity- so to celebrate a pretty extensive collection I currently have on my desk, I thought I’d share a few of my stationery favourites in hope to inspire your new year as much as they have mine…

For the forward planner…

Every year, without fail I make sure I have a paper diary and a blog planner to start things off with. I’m not someone who actually uses their common sense and puts everything on iCal- but for me, writing everything down on paper (although slower) feels a little bit more organised, and means I’m not constantly checking my phone. I normally opt for the Rifle Paper Co. (or Frankie Mag) ones, as both have a great amount of space for additional notes and important dates- with my blog planner coming in from, meaning I can start things from whenever I want to in the year and make notes for content ideas in the back too. It was a site I discovered simply from a good ol’ Google- but always find them totally failsafe and sometimes consistency year on year is quite a nice thing.

Some other favourites…

For the tick-list doer…

Until this year I’d used any old notebook to jot down to-do lists as each day happened, but after receiving this planner from Old English Co. I’ve taken a bit of a new stance. Although it’s hardly groundbreaking (and I’m sure you could do it on your own in a bullet journalling style way)- each page is lined with tick boxes for ‘today’s tasks’- giving you space to fill in your jobs for the day, as well as the date and notes at the bottom. I find it really helpful just going through this last thing at night for things I need to get done the next day, and having it next to me as I work really gives me a sense of order- opposed to lots of scraps of paper with random errands! I like the fact I also have all these messy lists in one place, instead of cluttering up endlessly jotters with the same thing too! Is it just me?!

Some more notebooks for listin’…

It’s what inside that counts, but…

If you’re simply searching for a great selection of damn great notebooks that are all pretty in tune with good aesthetics, Papersmiths is your bet. Having featured them earlier this year, I popped in and ended up having a bit of a field day in their Box Park store.

More than just notebooks, they specialise in beautiful pens and other office additions- and I picked up a selection of their Artline 200 pens in different colours, meaning not only do my notebooks look pretty on the outside, but they’re neat inside too (which I appreciate makes me sound about as cool from Will from The Inbetweeners, but you can’t win ’em all).

For jotting…

For your own stamp…

Being someone not impartial to sending a greetings card, late last year (and after my site redesign) I placed a cheeky order with for some personalised thank you cards to match my new branding. Obviously this won’t apply for everyone, but if you do have your own business (or even fancy sending something a litle different)- moo is one of my favourite places to get a little creative.

Although I did enlist the help from Sally and Ross on putting everything together, having my own stationery to send to people after an event, trip or what have you- makes me feel a little bit more ~together~ and adult (and who knows, maybe there’s a potential for selling something like this one day too)…

Finally, the ‘it’s not sexy but it counts’ item…

Could I really do a stationery post without including my completely essential receipts storage folder? I know it’s not the hottest thing to have handy, but when it comes to tax returns, or even sorting for VAT- let me tell you this little folder makes a world of difference. Having searched for something decent for a while, my favourite came in from kikki.k– and I love the fact it has little month by month envelopes to store them in, as well as a little front you can make notes and adding on to too. Again, not the most exciting- but definitely saves a lot of hassle in the long term- and isn’t that always a good thing?

Yessss, this blog post is a little bit of me! I recently went to Copenhagen and the only things I purchased were stationary from all of their independent stores. Now, if that isn’t adulthood, I don’t know what is! I’ve already book-marked personal planner, and old english co, so I guess I haven’t quite finished my collection yet. So thank you for sharing!

I love stationery! I could spend hours picking the perfect diary or notebook. TK Maxx has an amazing selection of all things stationery, I would totally recommend going there to have a look!

This is the first year I’ve gone sans paper diary and it’s felt so odd, but I love having my million notepads for planning content, writing really empties my head and helps me think clearly!

Ooh I love the Frankie planner! Does it cost a lot getting it shipped from AUS? I am using a big planner which I love and also a Trigg life mapper (life mapper sounds so serious but it’s great). Big fan of Kikki.K – in particular the goals journal.
