Not Just A Pretty Package…

If I’m being honest, I’m not generally someone that switches up their beauty routine all that often. I’ll keep a close eye on what the kids are buying and dip in and out when I truly think something will move it’s way into my routine seamlessly and work well with the other things I have- a bit like a beauty wardrobe if ya fancy.

But, the one time of year I love catching up with new launches and discoveries is January. Not only because the chances are that Santa has kindly introduced me to some new bits, but because I love seeing what other people have picked up (as well as a few kind PR deliveries the postman may drop by too)…

So, today I’m introducing you to all of the new favourites that I’ve been using and that have swiftly made themselves at home in my make up bag, and promise they’re ever bit worth the trip to Boots in January weather. Guides promise.

So let’s start with the main makeup additions! One of my favourite new entries into my makeup bag has to be this ‘Wanted’ palette of dreams from NARS. I’d seen this floating around a online, and the range of blush, burnt and rosy pinks paired with the subtle golds makes for possibly the most appropriate little compact in my kit.

I’ve also been using a new foundation over the past few weeks (to accommodate for a less than welcome breakout), in the shape of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation– which admittedly, is very full coverage- but not half as heavy as the name might suggest (don’t be freaked out by the clay suggestion, y’all)! I’ve also been head-over-heels for this Bobbi Brown highlighting powder from their latest collection, which is subtle enough to sweep over your cheeks for a really pretty glow- as well as this balm from & Other Stories which is not only perfect for my handbag, but it tastes delicious (umm) and has the most subtle nude tint too.

Brush wise, I’ve gone all in for the Lily England brushes. Aside from being worlds laziest brush washer- these marble and rose gold brushes make 10 minute make up application seem like the most glamorous thing in the world, and certainly encourage me to be a little less tardy with my washing. Also, on a less-beauty note, one of my favourite candle brands Evermore, are about to release their Valentine’s blush candle– so if you’re after a little ‘To me, Love me’ gift look no further.

Finally, for Christmas I also finally got a bloody good hairbrush. Having a fringe to deal with means I’m now even more partial to always having a brush to hand, and this Denman one (very similar to the Mason Pearson) is perfect.

And now for some more good ‘uns. Firstly, late to the party Liv recently discovered the Benefit’s ‘Watt’s Up’ highlighter, which has sufficiently changed my glow game for good (if it’s good enough for NYE, it’s good enough for me). I’ve also loved using the new Garnier Micellar cleansing water enriched with cornflower water, which is hugely gentle and calming (even if like me you’ve gone to town with the eyeliner). On top of that, I couldn’t not mention the Herbivore Moon Fruit overnight treatment again. I know I wax lyrical about this, but seeing as I’ve had this one pot for over a year (and use it about twice a week)- it definitely deserves another nod. Not only is it ridiculously hydrating, but it calms any redness and angry patches and performs endlessly (as well as being cruelty free- wahoo)!

Last but not least- the collaboration of the month (or year, as I struggle to see how it’ll be topped)- from L’Occitane and Rifle Paper Co. The dream team have partnered up to bring out a capsule collection of exclusively designed items- including the iconic hand cream and a little tin filled with miniatures too. It’s a total dream, and definitely the ultimate combination of style and substance.

I couldn’t do a beauty post without mentioning two of my favourite hair-care items too. With Sam McKnight’s hair collection being top of my wish list I was exceptionally lucky to receive some for Christmas (thanks Gen) and have been pretty much in love with it ever since (picking up both Cool Girl and Lazy Girl– the texturising and dry shampoo sprays). On top of that, the Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray is also continually at the end of my hairstylin’ routine- and I’m yet to find another I love as much… Watch this space!
