Well hasn’t this just come around quickly? I can’t really believe how fast the last month has flown by- it felt like September was set to be a month filled with plans, and perhaps because of that I haven’t actually stopped to catch my breath. Amongst a trip to Brussels, meetings around London, Joe’s graduation, a visit to Wales and a seaside trip- I’ve managed to accumulate some new favourites, so thought I’d share them as always! Let me know what you’ve been enjoying too (plus, if you stay tuned there’s a giveaway at the bottom too)!
Webster’s Pages: If there’s one thing I’ve been turning to for organisation, it’s my Wester’s Pages planner. Not only is it the most sweet candy-hue (with plenty more to chose from), but the pages are adorned with the prettiest gold font, with space for diary planning, goal making and oh so much more. On top of that it’s perfectly hand bag sized- so I have no excuse not to keep on top of dates now (especially for a girl who refuses to have her calendar in her phone)!
The Sartorialist: X Everyone and their mother knows about the talented gent that is Scott Schuman and The Sartorialist. So with the launch of his third book, ‘The Sartorialist: X’ landing at the beginning of this month, I was more than excited to get lost in yet more of his stunning photographs- and to have them sitting on my bookshelf is incredibly cool indeed. With the book exploring more street style from around the globe and an array of both high fashion and more urban images- it’s a real treasure, and really captures what personal style is all about.
Stylist Magazine: A couple of months ago, I took a shot in entering Stylist Magazine and Ford’s Fiesta Stylista competition- and this month I found out I had amazingly (and completely to my shock) made it to the final, something I could not have seen coming less (but equally something I am over the moon about). For the final this nervous-Purvis will be styling up three looks to show at Stylist Live (surreal? Just a little)- and would love to see you there if you’re visiting too (if not, scroll down to for the chance to win a pair of tickets)! Eeep!
Biscuiteers and their new collection: In September myself and two of my gorgeous friends Lucy and Kristabel hosted a little talk at the Biscuiteers Northcote Road boutique, and chatted all things blogging, collaborating and working- whilst surrounded by some awesome bloggers listening in. It was such a fun evening, and what made it better was getting to see (and taste test) the awesome new fashion collection in collaboration with Alice Naylor-Leyland- which includes mini biccies of C Tilbs lippies, a Bella Freud jumper and some Matthew Williamson too- dreamy!
The talented Ella Masters: When Ella sent me over a snap of this painting she’d be working on of me, I was pretty bloody blown away. I’ve talked about Ella here before, but this girl has got mad skills. Not only is she a badass with pens, pencils and the like- but she can paint too, which, having studied art A-Level- is no easy feat. If you’re ever in need of a talented creative lady, Ella is your girl.
Dreamland goodies: You may have already spotted my Margate guide and posts from this month, but I couldn’t not mention the gorgeous gifts I picked up at Dreamland again. With a shop loaded with colourful (and beautifully branded) souvenirs), there is so much to pick from, and it took a lot of self control to only leave with their salted caramel chocolate and mini slogan mirror (and a cheeky badge)!
New Lush launches:
After spotting some of these ‘one off’ products at the new Oxford Circus flagship (which, if you can get down there is hugely worth a visit)- Lush have started rolling out a selection across more of their UK and global stores- meaning everyone can get a piece of the action (or soap). Current loves include the Experimenter bath bomb, Milky Bar bubble bar, Cup ‘O Coffe mask and this delicious salted coconut hand scrub, which pretty much sounds (and smells) good enough to eat…
The magic water: After visiting Festival No 6 with Smashbox this month, I have become a fully blown convert to their position on primers, and this water (which doubles up as a refreshing ‘stay spray’ throughout the day) has become the first step of my daily make up routine. On top of that I’m now coveting their incredible contour kit- which even a muppet handed maverick like me could master- there is hope!
High street beauty loves: Well, aren’t you the cheeky ones, H&M. Firstly throwing out a seriously stunning Autumn Winter collection, and now a beauty line- which, as well as looking gorgeous actually does the trick too. As well as their make up, I’ve been loving using their hairspray (trust me on this, this gal has thin has and this HOLDS IT)- and can’t wait to sample my way around those white shelves next time I’m in store too…
The ‘more than just my initials’ loves: As soon as I heard babe-of-the-year Olivia Palermo was extending her line with Ciate to include make up, I might have done a little jump for joy. Not only did the collection have my name all over it (well, my initials anyway)- but the shades looked so perfect, I knew I had a bit of saving to be doing. Now, with the lipstick and blush firmly part of my makeup collection, I can say that the lippie has fast become one of my most used- you go team OP!
Lip balm form the sea: I probably don’t need to say too much about this gorgeous brand (having already mentioned them in my Margate guide), but having been using this balm since I picked it up, I can definitely say that it’s absolutely wonderful. With a mix of beeswax and seaweed, this hard balm is the perfect bedside companion and keeps my lips smooth and supple- which is a big thumbs up from me now it’s getting cooler!
Jo Malone fragrances: A recent addition to my fragrance collection (and one my mum and I have taken to…ahem… ‘sharing’), Jo Malone’s Mimosa and Cardamon may possibly be my new favourite- and is the perfect transitional fragrance from summery fruity florals to something a little more deep and spicy (yet still delicate and feminine).
And the mini roll on…: Okay, I’ll admit- I’m late to the roll on party. Having probably not used a roller ball perfume since the late nineties, this Oliver Bonas Peony Rose scent was the perfect way to reintroduce myself to feeling scent-sational on the go (pardon the pun). Although it’s tempting to lug a whole perfume bottle on the go (my inappropriately small bag collection doesn’t really allow)- this slinky number is perfect for on the go, and smells bloody lovely too.
I have 5 books and one pair of tickets- so if you fancy winning a goodie, leave a comment below (stating which prize you’d like, and an email address/Twitter handle/Instagram/Blog I can contact you via) and I will chose the winners on the 4th of October at random. Good luck!
