I feel like Chicago feels like a lifetime ago judging by how quickly these last few weeks have gone. Having left for the city at the beginning of October (and now finally getting round to sharing everything)- it seems like an age ago that Carrie and I were sitting down for an eagerly awaited melted deep dish pizza, (not so) fresh off of the plane from Heathrow.
But I’m back! I’m here! It’s been a couple of weeks since I sat down and typed a full post (probably the longest I’ve gone in ages), and it feels so nice to have so many postcards from my travels to share with you. I say things aren’t always so busy with travel, but it really feels like this year I have seen the world, which is nothing short of incredible.
So, with Chicago I thought I’d start at the beginning. Although I have a full city guide coming up (which trust me, is full)- I thought I’d ease you in to Chicago with one of my favourite little neighbourhood spots, C.C Ferns.
With Milly having it on her list of places for great coffee (this lady knows her stuff when it comes to great recommendations), we headed over to Humboldt Park for a quick coffee pit-stop in this (exceptionally cool) neighbourhood haunt. With soft vintage sofas squashed down with media-types tapping away on laptops, it felt like a total gem with locals. With it’s mahogany wooden walls, retro posters and nana’s house crockery- you can understand why it oozes that home-away-from-home feel. On top of that, it’s somewhere perched perfectly amongst a crossing of gorgeous shops and plenty of spots to explore (rumour has it they also stock the iconic Doughnut Vault doughnuts too which is golden information if you don’t fancy the DV queue).
Being the non-coffee appreciators that we are, post cuppa Carrie and I wandered outside to naturally take full advantage of the cafes gorgeous exterior (which, yes, is matched by the inside too) and enjoyed a little bit of autumn sunshine in one of our new favourite cities…
Stay tuned for the full guide coming this week! It’s good to be back…
