From The Archive: 2016

The year of travel- from Aus to Africa- as well as some of my favourite ever photos, I hope 2016 brings a small dose of wanderlust (and fashion inspiration if not)!

The Nude Make Up Staples

Oh you’re making me blush!

So opposed to doing a typical ‘red lip and smokey’ eye Valentine’s make up post (which, let’s face I can’t really nail anyway)- I thought I’d present to you some of my favourite, and most loved nudes and neutrals that are currently consuming my make up bag. Whether that’s some rosy shades, delicate glittery tones or even a new airy light foundation that I’ve fallen in love with (ahem)- I thought I’d pop it all in one place so I can introduce you to some serious new loves…

The foundation of the relationship…

Let me tell you now, I’m not an easy cat to please when it comes to finding the perfect foundation. I have a seriously pasty face so finding the perfect pale tone is essential, and love (and look for) something that gives good coverage whilst still allowing a subtle glow. So, let me introduce my latest base- the Suqqu Frame Fix Liquid Foundation Lightness in shade 101 (a bit of a mouthful, but absolutely worth it). This foundation is the perfect combination of something that emits light, dewy and healthy skin- whilst being build-able, great at covering redness and hitting top marks with longevity too (without being greasy, drying or oily either). Paired with that, I’ve been using the Bareminerals Bareskin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer, after hearing rave reviews online- and have also fallen in love like many others. It’s far lighter than many other concealers that I own, but because of it’s light consistency, isn’t cakey but still excels at covering darkness, redness and any naughty pimples too. To set, I’ve been obsessing over the stunning Guerlain Meteorites Light Revealing Powder– which is just as beautiful on the skin as it is in it’s pallet (I promise)- and is the most delicate powder, which packs a subtle highlight punch and setting power too (plus, smells like Parma Violets too, if you’re interested). Finally, I had to mention the Bobbi Brown Skin Nourish face mask which I’ve been turning to weekly for the ultimate skin-drink after some serious dehydrated January-face. What I love most though, is that you don’t have to wash it off, so can sit watching T,V (mask and all), tissue it off after 5 minutes and massage the excess in- simple!

All about the eyes (and, ahem, nails)…

Now, for the rest! To apply the above I’ve been turning to both the Zoeva Rose Golden Face Curve and Face Shape brushes, with the smaller, Face Shape brush being perfect for just. about. everything. Although it’s small it’s perfect for the inner corners of the eyes, concealing and foundation application- a perfect all rounder (literally, ho ho ho)! In terms of eyes, I’ve been loving playing about with the L’Oreal La Palette Nude in Rose, which is made up of some gorgeous pink-toned nudes which apply beautifully and are great for layering (especially with this Urban Decay eyeshadow in Midnight Cowgirl which is what all my sparkly golden dreams are made up of). Finally, for my nails I’ve been prepping with the Butter London Nail Tinted Moisturiser, which acts like a rapid-drying nail treatment and acts as the perfect base (or on it’s own too).

Simmer down and pucker up…

Finally- lips! Although the selection is a little more compact, these three items are products I’ve turned to near enough daily, so you can safely say they get a huge thumbs up. First things first- the Clinique Sweet Pots (this one is in Black Honey) are the perfect slightly tinted lip balm/exfoliant combination, and perfect for priming or as a standalone great lip product. For lipstick, my complete Jenner-esque go to is the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Safe Word Matte which is the most beautiful warm nude lipstick I’ve possibly ever owned, and is the perfect every day, or more dressed up lipstick. Stuff of dreams, I tell ya! Finally, the Revlon Ultra HD Lip Laquer (in Smoky Topaz), is the perfect option for something a little glossier (without the hair-in-face stickiness I dread with lip glosses), and has gorgeous pigmentation too.
