Festive Beauty Staples

Sparkle, spice and all things nice…

Admittedly, I’m not the most experimental when it comes to make-up looks, in Summer I’ll tone things down with peaches, light bronzes and pale nudes, Autumn will bring a series of obligatory burgundy lipsticks- and come Christmas, well, that’s when the red and gold products make an entrance. If I was braver, I could possibly experiment a little more for the season (I’m sure red and gold make up is to Christmas beauty what florals are to Spring fashion)- but based on the fact I’m a pretty huge fan of the pairing, and I like to play by the book- I thought I’d present some of my ultimate favourite festive make up staples, with sparkle a plenty!

Five gold, ahem, beauty products?

So, the sparkle thing. A lot of people aren’t a fan of too much glitter or pigmentation- but I say bring. it. on. Some of my favourite festive eye looks include the RMK Gold Liner (which looks great alone, or swept along the top of a thick cat eye), the Paul & Joe Golden Eye Gloss (which also doubles up as an amazing cheek or brow bone highlighter), Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Eyes to Mesmerise’ in Marie Antoinette- which is a fantastic creamy burnt golden shadow, which is perfect for adding subtle depth- and of course, Topshop’s Gold Glitter pigment, for, well pretty much everything. For my face I’ve also been loving RMK’s Gold Impression Illuminating Face Powder, which is the perfect sweep of sparkle for every day looks too.

and some Mrs Claus reds…

Nothing says ‘HEY I LOVE CHRISTMAS!’ Like a plump red lip, and these three little gems are pretty much staples in my make up bag come advent. Firstly, it’s no secret that I’m in love with Sephora’s Cream Lip Stain– which I’ve been harping on about for months, but is one of those products that literally lasts all day, and would be perfect for Christmas meals, nights out and everything in between (inc. crying at Love Actually). In terms of lipsticks and new additions, the Burberry Lipstick in Military Red is the perfect festive shade, but if you’re after something a little more sheer than Tom Ford’s Scarlet Rouge is an undoubtable safe bet too. Mwah!
