There's recipes a plenty, some inspirational ladies and some seventies sartorial nods throughout 2015 - stay tuned for a busy year!

Playing around with NARS x Christopher Kane

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a long time NARS lover. Having coveted their pallets, somewhat iconic blushers and even recently falling victim to their creamy concealer goodness- you’d probably be safe in assuming that I’m a full on NARSissist (another reason to love them- pun experts)! So, when I heard about the meeting of two of my favourite beauty and fashion minds and the NARS x Christopher Kane collaboration launching just in time for summer, I was pretty blooming excited to give the products a whirl and mix up my beauty routine for something a little more playful and exciting…

With the products forming a pretty beautiful bunch titled Neoneutral (which were used as part of Kane’s SS15 catwalk beauty look), the collection boasts both staple nudes and more playful brights (all in a cohesive kit of signature lip glosses, pigmented blushes, twinkling eyeshadows and a chunky illuminating and somewhat space-age highlighter)- which although can initially appear a little intimidating if you’re not one to experiment with colour (and are a little heavy handed, like yours truly), ultimately proves that colour needn’t be scary- and all work together to create a pretty cool mix of fun, but totally wearable looks.

To experiment a little, I got handy with some of my favourite picks from the bunch creating two subtly different make up get-ups- one more nude and muted, and one using the more colourful pieces of the collection, but both equally wearable, and being me- completely easy to achieve! I’m excited to layer them with other staples in my collection too, but for now here’s how they stand on their own two feet!

In the nude…

For this look I played around with the three standout nude pieces in the collection- with Silent Nude acting as a bridge between a blush and pale bronzer, it made for perfect non-orange contouring on my pale skin, and perfectly complimented the orange iridescent hue of the Outer Limits shadow. To finish off I added Nucleas lippy and a sweep of the Violet Atom highlighter for a subtle neo-spin- it’d be rude not too, right?

Colour poppin’…

For something a little more fun, I turned to the brighter pieces of the collection, starting with the Starscape blush over my base. Although the colour is pigmented and bold, it made for a beautiful rosy buildable blush (with a cheeky neon pop)- which means you do have complete control over the pink, and worked really well with the Mezmer gloss too. For eyes, I played with the Parallel Universe duo, which work well alone, or indeed layered with other colours for a more standout look too.

Post in collaboration with NARS, but all opinions, dab handed make-up skills and love for all things other-wordly and neo are my own
