If there’s one thing I’ve realised, over many years of, erm- wearing clothes, it’s that basics always come up trumps. You can never have too many striped tops (remember: no two stripes look the same, ahem), if you can find a few pairs of good jeans you’re lucky- so embrace it, and even when you wear the two together- you still probably won’t be Jane Birkin- but that’s ok…
Ever inspired by the queen of simple dressing, ‘Je t’aime moi non plus’ and the infamous basket (or Birkin) bag- I donned some new cropped jeans from Topshop (although, admittedly, a little extra leg length wouldn’t have gone amiss), a classic striped tee and the ultimate wicker tribute, in celebration of what was the warmest day of the year (so far)! Heading out for an afternoon of pizza making, this get-up was perhaps a little more Pizza Express than ’60s starlet, but alas- made for the perfect ‘running about’ outfit and a modern, yet simple nod to a favourite era too.
