You may remember that a little while ago I spoke about this Topshop dress- and the fact that, for a very long time it was the one item I’d endlessly trawl eBay for- continuing the search for the one in my size that didn’t break the bank. It was a dress I was indefinitely late to the party on- part of the Barbara Hulanicki for Topshop collection in 2009, and quite possibly the closest I’d ever get to owning anything relatively Biba in my wardrobe. After hearing rumours that it was shorter that an English summer and inevitable knicker flashing would occur I was a little apprehensive about ever getting my mitts on one, but after spotting one floating around on the world wide web, I bit the bullet and clicked ‘Buy it now’- the rest, they say, is history.
Okay- it might not be the most modest piece in my wardrobe, and I am a little more than wary when a gust of wind comes my way when wearing it (so much so that I often don some cheeky denim shorts underneath) – but I couldn’t be happier that I persevered with this little number, and I’ve definitely got the cost per wear to a pretty small penny already- so I’m a happy lady! Thanks Babs! It was also the perfect piece for a little ice cream parlour date with Clarice Price Thomas and some of my favourite ladies; Carrie, Dunya and Lucy– for a mid-summer style Secret Santa with some gorgeous rings from her collection. I was picked out the above piece by Dunya- I love it’s art-deco inspired style! I certainly left feeling very spoilt indeed!
