Writing this title, I’m a bit worried I couldn’t think of a less sexy heading for a blog post- but with a head to toe neutral outfit, a plate of syrupy pancakes and little imagination left after a book tour and a whirlwind trip to the Big Apple (twice in the same amount of months, whaaa), here we are!
Having only just returned from our holiday to New York in January, Joe and I had to pinch ourselves that we were heading back again. This time with Dove and their incredible #DoveSelfEsteem project (and the gorgeous launch of their Girls’ Room series with ATTN), it felt like a true pinch-me privilege to be going out there in the name of work, so soon after we’d last been.
Of course, the beauty of this meant we could finish ticking off things we hadn’t managed to do last time. With a couple of days to spare after the event, we were able to make the most of Manhattan this time around- spending afternoons walking the length of the island- up to Central Park, as the rain pattered down and we stopped for warm Levain cookies on the way (which I still think I’m a little full from)…
Taken on our first morning in Manhattan, we shot these photos a little before we headed out for pancakes a stones throw away from our hotel. Situated at the bottom of Crosby Street and in the heart of SoHo, I’d had Landmark bookmarked for it’s coffee and pancakes since we came in January and was over the moon to see it was just across the street. Serving up traditional diner fare, Landmark is known for it’s fluffy American pancakes- and although it’s not the glitziest diner in the city- this place shows that to be all singing, you needn’t leathery booths and strip lighting (as much as I’m a true sucker for it). With freshly squeezed juice, great people watching and pancakes for under $5- it feels like a bit of a treat in a city that can sometimes cost a fair amount if like us, you want to dine in lots of spots and try All. The. Things…
After breakfast we took a wander around Little Italy- as fortunately for us, the first morning we had in the city wasn’t raining- huzzah! Paired with jacket-weather temperatures (for a few hours at least), we mooched around pockets of the city I hadn’t seen much of before-reluctantly skimming past Italian restaurants and Chinatown next door. It was the perfect way to spend a morning post-pancake, and I’ll be sharing the rest of our photos before the weekend!
