Although kept as a little bit of an off the radar secret, I almost felt a bit rebellious sharing it over here- but seeing as sharing is caring (and all that) thought I’d pop up a little about one of my new favourite north London spots- in case you fancy somewhere (slightly) off the beaten track to enjoy a slow Saturday…
Tucked behind Granary Square, you’ve probably come close to visiting this place but have been lured in by the bacon naans and friendly familiarity (and, ahem, queues) of it’s neighbouring Dishoom. But walk a little further up, and there you’ll find Spiritland. With rooms inspired by recording studios, live weekly DJ sets, shelves stacked with records and what I’m told is a state of the art sound system (which I know sweet nothing about, but have heard it’s pretty impressive)- this cafe-slash-bar-slash-venue is a welcome addition to lists of samey brunch spots and hip hangouts.

Although by definition (records, eggs, avocado and DJ sets)- you’d be forgiven for thinking this place could seem a little pretentious, everyone from beginning to end was exceptionally friendly, warm and efficient at serving up some seriously delicious dishes. Opting for avocado and eggs with their citrus cured salmon, the menu was a fusion of traditional Brit dishes and European favourites varying from Gravadlax to Burratina- it’s comfortably shot up to being a new favourite spot for brunch, and I’m excited to pop back one evening for music and drinks too…

October 21, 2017 at 10:15 pmI work just a few doors down from here but I’ve never ventured in! You’re 100% right, Dishoom pretty much always lures me over Spiritland but I want to give it a whirl now, especially for breakfast <3
