If you asked me what my ultimate dreamy weekend scenario would look like, you can bet that friends and Disney would probably come into the equation. With my dear pal Carrie getting married next month (!!) a trip to Disneyland Paris for her hen do seemed like a perfectly appropriate way of celebrating- anything fuelled by sweet treats, Mickey Mouse and some of my favourite girl friends (lookin’ at you Dunya, Lucy, Kristabel and Reem) gets ultimate kudos in my books…
Having not visited Disneyland since I was about 9, I was so incredibly excited to experience the magic as a ‘grown up’ and with some of my favourite people too. Decked out in our matching bomber jackets like some sort of millennial pink ladies tribute (always a good thing if you ask me), we hot footed it to the main park (not after a quick ear-buying spree) before making our way around the rides and me sampling my first (and last) roller coaster (let’s just say I wasn’t built for Space Mountain…)
After a (mostly) sun-fuelled day exploring the parks and studios, and tackling everything from Pirates of the Caribbean to Small World (upon my strict insistence), we settled in for dinner- before picking our spaces for the final Disney Dreams fireworks display at closing. I can safely assure all on-the-fence adults that the magic definitely still remains as a twenty something- and I absolutely still have songs from Goofy’s Garden Party still in my head…
