From The Archive: 2013

With magazine placements on the side, 2013 was the last year I juggled blogging as a side gig. Things get a bit girlier in the style department too, with a lorra love for the sixties and a 'hive!

‘Cause you ain’t gonna change with the morning tide

It’s no secret that I have no problem dressing for British weather (bar today of course- velvet shoes and rain? That’s cute)- but take the girl out of the UK and we have a problem. Particularly with beach wear. Finding the right shape in a bikini is one of life’s great wonders, and being the person that took 4 different shaped swim items (think high waisted, full on swim suit, hipster ”briefs” etc) I left Ibiza with some pretty mental tan lines. However, I did find a few pieces that I felt particularly happy with- including the above and below pieces which get gold stars- and a MINKPINK bikini that sadly didn’t get a snap…

Additionally, as much as I love browsing Topshop’s endless range of strappy sandals that even Roman emperors would envy, in terms of really sensible beach shoes (who has time for 40 buckles?), there’s only one real correct answer- the flip flop (or, if you’re forgetful Joe- the brogue). As tempting as it is to run to Primark, or go a bit wild in duty free (no, you probably don’t need ten new bottles of ‘smellies’, and yes, Cadbury is available in the UK)- the amazing Rob and Paul at Gandys have a slightly (understatement of the year) better option.

I won’t be able to word it like it is here– so please give this short video a watch, and try and stop yourselves from clicking through and finishing off your summer wardrobe (every purchase comes with an enormous sense of well being, and the knowledge of doing something genuinely amazing). They’re honestly one of my favourite brand discoveries this summer (along with the Whitepepper) and I can’t sing their praises enough- so here we are, three cheers for worthy summer shoes (and well fitted bikinis)!
