From The Archive: 2013

With magazine placements on the side, 2013 was the last year I juggled blogging as a side gig. Things get a bit girlier in the style department too, with a lorra love for the sixties and a 'hive!

Ladies Behind The Sidebar- April 2013

For April my top sponsor is the simply gorgeous jewellery company Love Hearts and Crosses. This bustling and brilliant online boutique has every type of accessory you could ever wish for, trust me- you name it you’ll find it here. From cute as a button porcelain animal jewellery (the new Papa bear ring has me weak at the knees), hippy style knuckle and midi rings, Lolita love heart sunnies and even a lucky dip- there’s no excuse to not get accessorizing PLUS there’s currently a 40% off flash sale using the code ‘flash40’ GO GO GO.

KEYTAp is the awesome online fashion, beauty and lifestyle fashion journal run by, you guessed it- Keyta Hawkins. Now, if you’re lookin’ for a blog that covers THE beauty lust haves (and sums them up honestly and concisely), seriously cool outfit posts (with ‘tude that even Miss Azeala would envy), travel diaries that will have you hot footing to your nearest estate agents and a layout slicker than Danny Zucko’s quiff- this girl is one to watch.

Some Say I’ve Snapped is the beautiful blog that comes straight from bargain hunting, scone-baking and reading fan Ash- a twenty year old student studying in the heart of Glasgow. Ash’s gorgeous blog focuses on her main passions in life (family, friends, fashion, photos, and food) all of which are documented with the most beautiful photographs and the type of writing that makes you feel like you’ve known her for years- a definite blog to bookmark (and lust over…)

Founded in 2010 by fashion fixated creative director, Sian- Kittenish Behaviour is the location for 21-of-a-kind original dresses- inspired by eras gone by and glamorous pin up fashion. Recreating vintage patterns with striking, modern prints and fabulously ’50s ladylike shapes, this online boutique is a complete treasure chest of Monroe and Taylor inspired frocks and skirts- completely dreamy. Additionally you can now add some beautifully bright accessories to your outfits, a matching bandana or even a sassy waist belt- perfect.

Created by the beautiful and talented Jade Murray, Ginger Pickle offers a curated range of handmade gifts made by the best British independent designers- from jewellery (everything from bunny rabbit bobbypins to hand illustrated brooches) to beautiful hand crafted stationary (think screen prints and printed notebooks)- it’s the perfect location for finishing outfit touches or a perfectly on point birthday gift with a card to match- all completely on budget. Win win.

The gorgeous Emily a.k.a Curly Cutie is the ultimate all rounder blog- packed with wearable fashion, book reviews, exciting music recommendations (she got The 1975 and Tom Odell early), make up collection posts (perfect for nosey parkers)and chit chatty day to day musings and adventures in London- what more could you possibly ask for? With celebrity style posts (and how to copy them on a budget), cute and personal tag posts and some seriously simple yet gorgeous make up looks- Emily’s blog is the perfect little corner of the internet, and one you should definitely give a follow.

Nowadays finding the perfect online boutique, which is well priced can be pretty tricky. That is, however, until you come across the beautiful Olive and Frank. With items described as ‘fun, inspiring and unique’ (all true), talented founder Chloe makes sure this cute boutique shop is fully stocked with the most interesting and original pieces. With covetable pieces including a white lace Peter Pan collar dress, chunky burgundy bow brogues and more jewellery than even the biggest magpie could wish for (which is saying something)- you’ll just have to see it to believe it.

Hand designed, unique, ethically sourced and upcycled- are just four ways of describing beautiful hair accessories store, Raccoon Circus. With everything from delicate and twee button clips, feather and sequin crowns that even Natasha Khan would envy and bows to add that finishing touch to the girliest up-do- this wonderful store hairs-it-all (see what I did there?!) and is certainly the stockist for head wear for heroines. Plus, with a motto of ‘there’s enough discarded material in the world… we want to do something with it’- you’re giving a little something back too.
