It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a happy camper, quite literally. After doing a bit of a festival circuit over the past few years; ranging from a dust bowl Reading festival, typically muddy Glastonbury- and absolutely scorching Benicassim, I feel I’ve racked up a pretty varied range of experience- and almost feel 100% confident in pitching a fully rainproof tent now- result! So, when Joe’s (very very kind) parents gifted me with a glamping experience in Leeds Castle for my birthday, I was extremely excited (especially so that I wouldn’t have to pitch anything myself)…
After whizzing down the motorway (abiding to all limits, duh) and singing along to a series of Jamie T and Taylor Swift (a winning combination)- Joe, his sister Lucy, her boyfriend Dom and I arrived at the beautiful grounds, a stones throw away from the main castle, to our majestic medieval inspired homes for the evening. With the ‘knights cottage’ facilities at our disposable (a warm shower was never far away)- we settled in to an evening of Jenga, skittles (old before our time, really?) and a comfort BBQ- before retiring to our tents, and attempting to keep our wood burners lit (I’m not that skilled in the camping department, ok). In the morning we awoke to cool Autumnal sunshine, a hamper of croissants and a free reign of the grounds- the perfect royal inspired weekend!
