Good afternoon, lovely people! It's day 3 of Joyful January and today is one for the overly optimistic start-of-year readers. The ones who begin 3 books with fierce gusto and end the year with the same three unread as the thrill of a new cover on the bedside tower wears off. But not this year! This year I'm starting gently- with a one seasonal book challenge. One lovely new book. That's it. Let's just try that (and hopefully watch that melt into two, three, four, five...). My favourite thing to do is read alongside the seasons, and if you need a book to ease you into the year, Wintering by Katherine May is the kind of weighted blanket of books I've been after. The long exhale after a busy day. I'm on the hunt for a gorgeous fiction read, so would love any suggestions too!

It's day two of Joyful January and a small explanation as to why a lot of family and friends have yet to receive post Christmas thank you cards... 💌

This has been one of my favourite things to do in the evenings (I picked up my cards from @sostrenegrene- where I bet you could get some fun little accessories for them too) and I hope they might be ready in time for Christmas 2026!

Good morning lovely people! I've already said it's the 4th twice today so I'm still not quite off the start line, but one thing I wanted to do in January (a month I famously find tricky) is start a little Joyful January advent (of sorts, I know that's not how advents work but YOU KNOW). A handful of things throughout January, that you can do alongside the busyness of life and parenting and existing, with no extra stress that might bring a little bit of joy.

Today I'm starting with my favourite current breakfast (I've popped the recipe below)- and would love to hear what you might be doing too!

A (nearly) Porridge of the Gods:
- 50g porridge oats (ish!) (everything is ish)
- 100ml water
- 100ml milk
- A banana
- Handful of blueberries
- Drizzle of honey
- 1/2 cubes of dark chocolate (or chocolate coated almonds which I LOVE, @forestfeast are the best)

1. Add your oats, milk and water to a saucepan and simmer on a low heat for 15 minutes (the lower and slower the better, but appreciate time is of the essence- I do this post drop off)! You can also microwave it, but for the sake of being slow and having something yummy I recommend hob!
2. Chop up your banana and add in your berries once your porridge is cooked.
3. Grate your cube of chocolate or almonds in, and add honey- done and delicious!

A few lovely moments from the last day of the year- unfortunately for the internet, going to see Sentimental Value at the cinema inspired me to film everything (what's new!) so no ordinary moment will be left undocumented! Maybe 2025 will be the year of the vlog! Anyway, I hope you all had a peaceful end to 2025, and a very happy new year, thank you for being here and being so lovely- I am very, very grateful 🤍
