With last week being mine and Joe’s extended time off- a vision of decorating the spare bedroom, fitting in leisurely brunches and finally getting around to starting Game of Thrones was more a reality of doctors visits, sinus and throat infections and actually watching Love Sick instead (which, if you love Johnny Flynn as much as me, you’ll adore- heads up to Alice for the recommendation)! A little proof that not every first week of January will always be quite as productive as you might expect- but there’s another 51 weeks for spin classes, detoxes and cutting out indulgences right?
Anyway- with this week guaranteeing a handful of 7am alarms set and morning breakfasts scheduled, I’ve tried leaping into a little diary consistency this time around- with one of the first being at my favourite East London hangout, Hoi Polloi at the Ace.
Since moving last year, Shoreditch and East of the river have slowly become somewhere I head to less often, with local stations landing me more central into the city, and Soho filling the gap for small pop ups and coffee shops seemingly sponsored by Apple. But, with promise of great breakfast comes any reason to hop on the Overground, and it felt nice heading back to one of my favourite parts of town, fitting in a quick browse along Redchurch Street too.
It was also one of those days that felt unusually cold considering how mild it’s been. People have been saying when New York sneezes London gets the cold, so I’m blaming their snow and single digit weather on the fact yet another sheep-inspired teddy coat has come out to play. But who am I kidding? After seeing Jeanne Damas in something similar (which surely legitimises any impulse purchases) I picked up this gorgeous Topshop number online, and paired it with some age-defying kick flares from ASOS, my Staud bucket bag and these By-Far inspired Vagabond boots, which are pretty much my new favourite things. It might not be quite the French chic look I had in mind (more like second sheep in the nativity), but I’m keen to start playing around with my wardrobe again, utilising the favourites I have and getting excited for the year ahead- classes, juices and the rest can wait.

January 13, 2018 at 4:23 pmI definitely think I put a lot of pressure on the beginning of the year to be productive but forget there’s another 50-odd weeks left to do all that stuff too! Loving your outfit – I’m definitely feeling this odd chill! and I really really love your jeans, never thought I’d go for that flare type but I think they look so flattering and gorgeous on you and I love that green colour too! (might have to pick them up with all the money I don’t have post-Christmas! hehe!)
