Little Scalloped Jumper

I feel like around this time of year it’s completely normally to go swirling into a complete disarray about what to wear.

I’m not fickle enough to believe spring is around the corner just yet (despite seeing blossoms, it is still January y’all) and although I’d much rather be shopping for flippy floral dresses, bags that don’t need to be rain resistant and more espadrilles to add to my already sturdy collection, I feel like it gets to this time of year when I lose a little bit of inspiration and have to go rifling through the archives (be it IRL wardrobe searching or Instagram saved images) to rev things up again.

So, let’s talk about this little hero piece shall we? I’ve been an Orla Kiely fan for years now (forever missing her incredible LFW presentations- if you haven’t seen them have a nosey here for an idea, representin’ berets since ’14)- but continually love heading online and checking out her beautiful collections and spellbinding collaborations with Leith Clark. There aren’t many designers I’m hugely invested in or would really save for, but always find myself going back to Orla for a dose of something timeless with a little whimsical retro nod- with my favourite car coat being one of hers too.

Anyway- this knit was something I’d had on my radar for months before it entered my wardrobe this week. I think I first saw it around September time (on the oh-so-lovely Laura here) and swiftly fell head over heels for it’s scalloped detail and three-shades-of-heaven colour scheme too. I love it’s slightly seventies feel without being too novelty- and know it’ll be just as lovely layered over a high necked blouse or denim button up mini skirt. It’s definitely been something I’d had on my wish list for a while, and is the perfect example of ‘having a think about something’ before you know that it truly has a place in your wardrobe.

Paired with my Levi’s wedgie jeans which I wonder whether I’ll ever take off (ha ha, half joking and all of that) and some pretty practical & other stories brown suede boots, I think I’m definitely happy to sticking to less is more when I’m having one of those ‘what to wear’ days. What are your solutions for those kind of outfit days? Answers on a postcard.

P.S I also just asked on Twitter about what you like to see in terms of the ~content~ of blog posts. I am someone very split down the middle when it comes to what I like to read about online (and imagine a lot of you lovely lot are too)- but I just wanted to know about the kind of thing you like to see accompanying outfit posts. I know I do quite a large mix of content over here anyway- but having seen a lot of people tackle often more topical subjects with these kind of posts- started to wonder whether this nattering is a little bit light for y’all- or if you’d like something a little meatier? I’ve seen a tonne of think pieces, DMC’s and the like- so let me know and I can get my thinking cap on accordingly!
