Five New Beauty Staples To Try

Another beauty post from yours truly- can you believe it? It feels like a long time since I’ve sat down and spoken about any of the new beauty additions I’ve been enjoying (bar a couple of impromptu Instagram Lives for those of you that are eagle eyed) so thought I’d take a little Saturday morning opportunity to chat you through five of my newest favourites currently getting their fair share of use from make-up bag to bottom-of-my-bag…

The good-skin foundation
Okay, so I’m late to the Sheer Glow party. It wasn’t a good party to be late to (not least because all the cake and drinks had gone)- but because yes, indeed- this foundation IS BLOODY GREAT. I was always worried it would be too, ahem, sheer for me- but lo and behold this gives good coverage. Excellent, in fact. Paired with a concealer on slightly less skin-cooperative days (and then a powder if gal is getting her shine on)- it’s truly become a staple part of my daily make up routine.

The ‘oh-god-BUT-LOOK-AT-THE-PACKAGING’
When I saw Lancôme had done a collaboration with the gorgeous Olympia Le Tan (a.k.a one of the most incredible handbag designers) my heart skipped a beat and I quickly envisioned only how gorgeous the packaging could be (let alone the product). Fortunately, I was lucky enough to try the cushion highlighter– and in terms of packaging it’s a total gem. It’s the kind of thing you’ll finish and still keep- and although I’m reserving the highlight for more natural skin looks (as sometimes with thick foundation it can make things move a bit)- it’s perfect for a super dewy almost glittery look.

The one I panic when I lose
Having only recently tried more Glossier products, it was the cherry balm dotcom that had me at hello. Although I do love birthday cake and the original- it’s the gently pigmented pinky red hue of the cherry offering that I truly love, and makes for the ultimate subtle colour when you don’t want to commit to any drying lip shade. Plus, I’m sure if you were a total maverick this would also look gorgeous as an on the go blush too…

The ‘quick! Hide that spot’ concealer
Since discovering the new YSL makeup offerings last month including their ‘All Hours’ foundation and primer- it was the concealer that I really took a shine to. Although I admittedly love the foundation, it was refreshing to use a liquid concealer after using a palette for so long, and I absolutely love the consistency of this one; creamy with a good coverage, without moving what’s underneath- thumbs up from me!

The not-quite bronze bronzer
For a while I’ve struggled finding a bronzer that compliments a super pale skin tone. For a long time I loved the Daniel Sandler one (and still do), but after finding things often made me look a little orange (or, ahem, too bronzed) it was the light (or ‘lite’) version of Benefit’s Hoola that filled the gap. With it’s tone still being warm without looking murky or grey, it’s the perfect contour-cum-bronzer for a gal on the go.

What new-in’s have you been loving lately?

I lovelovelove birthday balm dotcom and the coconut one-the latter is permanently in my work bag. That YSL concealer sounds dreamy too-adding it to my list for once my month of non spending is over. Reading beauty posts is torture right now haha.
