One thing I love about holiday packing is the opportunity to switch up my routine a little in terms of what’s going on in the beauty department. Being a bit of an English Rose (that’s very pale to you and I) skincare is at the forefront of any packing endeavours, so being able to discover new favourites (as well as unearth old loves) is always key for me, and discovering products that not only lock in some SPF but also keep my skin feeling nourished and hydrated is incredibly important. So! I thought I’d introduce you to the picks that made it through the big sort out during my latest trip, and the things that I’ll be making sure are reused again and again going forward too!
For my beach bag…
I’ve been a fan of Clinique’s Pep Start for a long time now, and love using it as a first-thing moisturising primer when I wake up- so absolutely love the fact they’ve reintroduced it for summer with an SPF 20. Although it’s not quite as high as I like to normally use on my face- it’s an amazing bet for a UK summertime SPF or something first thing in the morning- but definitely keep topping up with something higher too to be safe. Which leads me nicely on to Garnier’s Moisture Bomb Hydrating Mist. Not only is this an amazing cooling spray for throughout the day when your face feels a little tight and dry- but it also has an SPF of 30 and Anti-UV protection making it a total must have for my beach bag- alongside my trusty 8 hour cream for lips.
Another little mini that I’ve been loving is the Ouai dry shampoo for travel. Being one of my full-sized faves I’ve loved being able to collect minis of the products I actually already love this year (unlike any previous last minute drugstore runs)- and Space NK have an amazing selection if you’re feeling a little stuck too!
Summer scents…
Without a doubt my favourite summer holiday scents come from Tom Ford. They’re undoubtedly some of the most special fragrances I own, but to me their private blends and especially Mandarino di Amalfi Acqua is summer in a bottle. Smelling of fresh lemon, citrus fruits and warm summer evenings- it manages to transport me to somewhere beautiful every time I wear it (not literally, sadly) and is the perfect mixture of something warm and fresh at the same time- and something I know I’ll wear for years to come.
For a little colour…
If like me you’re a minimal make-up kind of person the second you step off the plane, this little gem from Origins will fast become a staple. Having already used their Energry Boosting GinZing Moisturiser endlessly as part of my morning routine- adding in a little tint and some SPF has certainly now made this addition a holiday staple. It’s perfect if you want great face protection which adds a little colour early on, and certainly helps take away any consciousness you could feel when you first step on to the sand.
For years my go-to all over SPF has been P20– I’ve never burnt, peeled or gotten red using it- and it’s fantastic at lasting all day without needing to top up endlessly. This year however I did try a couple of new additions, so thought I’d add these in in case you fancy some further SPF-spiration. For my face I gave the La Mer Reparative Face Sun Lotion a go- which although was hydrating and prevented burning or redness is incredibly pricey- so I’m definitely keen to keep using this on any future trips and see if it’s worth the price. I also gave the Clinique Virtu-Oil a go, which was really lovely to apply, non sticky and cooling- although does require a top up quite frequently- so will keep you posted on any other discoveries!
