Big Red Bus

I was watching an interview with Gillian Jacobs recently (current girl crush number uno) and she mentioned something that I found pretty inspiring when it came to all things style. On talking about her move to New York, she said that when she moved there ‘everybody wore the kind of clothes you’d see in Vogue’- which inspired her to take more sartorial risks, and in short- give less of a fuck (pardon my French etc etc). Now, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here- I am by no means suggesting my trendy offerings are anywhere close to Conde Nast status (as I type this I’m wearing stretched PJs than could now fit in two of me)- but what I did take from it is how I should probably utilise my own wardrobe when I live in such a vibrant city…

Don’t get me wrong- it’s certainly something easier said than done. With more jeans than common sense and enough jumpers to sink a small liner- I’m certainly prone to pulling out the same tricks when I’m uninspired, or indeed not spending enough time planning outfits ahead of the half an hour before I leave the house. Anyway- this is me vowing to change that. To mix things up and be braver- to wear my ponytail, red lips and biker jacket for a meeting at the accountants and be Rizzo enough to tackle any numbers and digits that’ll come my way. Because if brave style wasn’t built for dealing with the everyday than I’m all out. If Gillian can do it, I’ll certainly give it a go.
