From The Archive: 2016

The year of travel- from Aus to Africa- as well as some of my favourite ever photos, I hope 2016 brings a small dose of wanderlust (and fashion inspiration if not)!

Kate Spade Florals

I feel like I should have titled this post ‘A weekend without jeans! A breakthrough by Olivia Purvis!’ Obviously I didn’t because a) that probably would have acted like a deterrent for any reading you planned on doing and b) typically, Liv is late to the party. But breakthroughs aside, it’s amazing what a new dress paired with some favourite wardrobe staples (silver boots I’m lookin’ at you) can do for one’s confidence…

It’s also amazing what a pair of kick ass metallic shoes can do for a pretty dress (which could have easily been kept ‘for best’ and for special occasions too). Let’s just say I’m definitely one for going ‘all out’ with an outfit. For e.g, if I’m going seventies-bohemian I’ll go with a floppy hat, round glasses and flares a plenty. Much like if I’m doing floral midi’s- I’ll pluck out the pointed strappy court shoe and girlie clutch- perfectly prim and ladylike. Of course there’s nothing wrong with that- but by switching things up and definitely doing something a little braver and less safe than I’d normally opt for I’ve totally switched up an outfit, and I love it. Call it the Ellaby-effect– a girl who gets it so endlessly right, and makes stepping out of your comfort zone (in metallics) one of the coolest things you can do. Note taken.
