The year of travel- from Aus to Africa- as well as some of my favourite ever photos, I hope 2016 brings a small dose of wanderlust (and fashion inspiration if not)!

Holiday Beauty Essentials

Summer brights…

Being a lady of routine when it comes to my day-to-day make up- going on holiday, I end up snatching every opportunity to wear things a little brighter, a little more exotic– because hey, I’M ON HOLIDAY. On top of that, having a bit of colour opposed to my moon-white (or, ahem, ‘English rose’ pale) face, means I’m more prone to up the glow and reach for things will a little more glitter too. At the moment (even when at home) I’ve been turning to this stunning orangey-red polish from Chanel (in the appropriately named ‘Espadrilles’ as well as the nude in ‘Organdi’), with this YSL lippy in shade ’01’ (with SPF) for the perfect radiant red too. For eyes I’ve been obsessed with the colour collection from & Other Stories (the shadow pigment is amazing) and their Sequin Ray Luminising Quad is arguably one of the best cream highlighters I’ve ever tried. Period. For day-time (or when I’m feeling a little more muted) Topshop’s lippy in Pillow Talk (it had me at the Zayn-name) and the always-a-winner Guerlain Super Lips balm are the perfect pair too.

For in-between washes…

When it comes to holiday-hair-care, I am all about the travel mini’s. I’ve tried a fair few in my time, and raided many a Boots and Superdrug- but this year my absolute favourites for amazing quality are the Malin + Goetz Peppermint and Cilantro shampoo and conditioner. So. Dreamy. I’ve also been swearing by this dry-shampoo from Bumble & Bumble– which is so light and effective and doesn’t leave you with the chalky feeling most can. Finally, I’ve also been loving this grape water from Caudalie (not for hair, but the maverick made it into shot)- which is fantastic for refreshing your skin when things get a little hot and sweaty (especially if you’re doing a spot of exploring or pool side sunbathing too)!

Get the glow…

When I go away I tend not to switch my skin care up too much (there’s enough change for your skin to handle being somewhere new as is), but a couple of things have recently snuck into my routine- so I thought I’d share! Firstly let’s talk SPF! The Body Shop do the most incredible Skin Defence, which at Factor 50 is pretty amazing and also absorbs so well under make-up, meaning it’s perfect for day to day wear too and not at all sticky or thick. For day time (and especially good skin days) I’ve been loving the Eborian BB creme in nude, which is the perfect cover-up for lazy days or ‘OMG-I-don’t-need-any-foundation!’ too. For less flawless days the Bare Minerals Well Rested brightener is pretty much a face saver (and makes even 4 hours sleep look twinkly).

Top-to-toe…

…and finally- body! At home I am pretty useless with any kind of post-bath body maintenance (which sounds a lot more testing than it is), but there’s something about being away and having a pamper, that means I’m far better at giving myself some TLC. Firstly- body oil and moisturising! I’ve been a long time fan of the Tom Ford shimmer body oils, and this years offering in their Soliel Blanc fragrance is no less lovely or summery than before, and is the perfect moisturiser-come-pre-evening-out treat. If I’m just in need of something a little more simple, the & Other Stories body moisturiser in Steel Garden is a total favourite and pretty much is top of my pamper list (as well as my Frank scrub love, which you already know about). A couple of other holiday must-haves include the incredible Jo Malone fragrance in Nashi Blossom which is possibly one of the most beautiful scents I own (it’s incredibly light and a gorgeous fusion of citrus and florals) as well as the Guerlain L’eau HΓ’lΓ©e oil which is a total must have. In short, you can use it on your body for a light glow, or like me, pop a couple of drops into your foundation to help it adapt to any tanning you may have done- no new foundation needed. It’s also super cooling and great at adding a little sun kissed feel if you’re feeling a little pasty too.
