The Pig in beautiful rural Brockenhurst, nestled in the New Forest, is somewhere that’s been on my ‘to visit’ list for as long as I can remember. After seeing endless Instagrams boasting it’s dolls-house exterior peppered with winding wisteria, crunching up the front drive after a minibus journey from London was pretty magical. Having been invited by Hush Puppies to celebrate their latest campaign (you can hear a little more in my vlog here), it was the perfect pocket sized city getaway- where you feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle (although it’s really only a couple of hours)…
Although we weren’t quite so lucky with the weather (these pictures were taken during the calm after the storm)- there’s something about curling up in sinking sofas, sipping tea (or, ahem, G&T’s) to a game of Scrabble that has me at hello (even if all of our letters were vowels)- and anyway, it’s the food that’s the real talker at The Pig. Having heard of it as essentially a ‘restaurant with rooms’, the dinner was something I was most excited for- and with wild garlic risotto, fragrant Earl Grey Creme Caramel (as well of plenty of treats in between)- it’s safe to say we were spoilt rotten! More on our short and sweet day two tomorrow!
