A few months back now, Joe and I decided to book a little festive stay cation. Having never visited Scotland before, we settled on a pre-Christmas visit to the capital, Edinburgh, for a couple of days of relaxing, Christmas markets, practising our accents (not joking), last-minute shopping and of course exploring and playing tourists. With budget flights booked (so much quicker than the blooming train), a hotel sorted and a bursting itinerary thanks to the wonderful suggestions of Twitter and Instagram- we were set, and I couldn’t have been more excited. The city was everything I’d hoped for and more; swirling higgledy cobbled streets, untouched Georgian architecture, a stunning hilltop castle, endless independent shops and some of the loveliest people I’ve come to meet.
Although it was notably chillier than London, we were lucky in that a coat, bobble hat and scarf would normally suffice (I feel the cold ok)- but during our trip, I was set on parading about my new Urban Outfitters dress– layers, or not (coat just out of shot). Paired with my favourite ever sale buy boots (£40 last year and still going strong), a classic fedora and no notable goosebumps- I was set for a day of exploring, just stay tuned for the guide coming up this weekend!
