One of the most fun things about getting dressed, I’d say- is pretending to be a character for the day. When I picked up this dress in Zara, and paired it with these uh-mazing over the knee boots from Next (which have completely stolen my heart) I indefinitely had an Anita Pallenberg or Marianne Faithful kind of girl in mind- and when I stepped out onto Cadogan Gardens wearing this get up- I sure as well felt a little like them too (even if the rest of my afternoon was spent watching This Morning and eating cereal from the box, but I’m not sure that’s important)…

On top of that, it’s been about 10 years since I last wore knee high boots (when I last did they were from the Next kids section with a low wedge and love hearts all over them- be very jealous)- but since then I’ve worried that my short legs and petite frame wouldn’t cater for the slinky seventies style. But alas, these boots have me converted. Not only are they roomy enough that they’re not skin-tight/spray on looking, but they’re short enough in length that they don’t shrink me and help aid the slightly-short dress situation too. I’m looking forward to pairing them with washed denim, a big furry coat and floppy hat come the colder months too, and pretending I’m actually of to see the Stones …
