If you’ve kept a sneaky eye on Instagram over the last few days, you’ll have noticed that I headed over to the Big Apple in time for the Kate Spade New York Fashion Week presentation- which, yup, is definitely as surreal as it sounds. When things happen so quickly it’s hard to process everything, and it certainly still hasn’t hit me that we actually went- so it’s lucky I took a fair few pictures huh? (And boy, are there a lot of pictures for you in this post). Although I was only properly there for just over a day and a half, we got up to lots of fun things and certainly experienced the ‘Kate Spade’ New York- which involved lots of tasty food, pretty shops and some blooming good clothes- but more on the later (I’m planning a mini guide, too)!
As exciting as whizzing around in a yellow taxi is (and, omg, spotting a certain Ms Chung outside my hotel) the highlight was definitely seeing the infamous KSNY presentation, and spending a little time backstage getting to know the inspiration behind the absolutely beaauuti-ful looks that were shown. With make up from MAC and Lyne Desnoyers, inspired by modern graphic cat eyes (no big flicks here) and balmy skin, Tommy Buckett hair with a slight modern beachy wave, and glossy graphic tipped nails (as explained by Deborah Lippmann herself)- it was amazing to see everything from start to finish, and appreciate the hard work that goes in to the final polished look.
… but let’s not forget the clothes themselves! For as long as I can remember I’ve been the biggest fan of the brands novelty yet sophisticated accessories (if frogs, snails and crab clutches are your thing then you’ve come to the right place) and timeless clothing- but it was this collection that really seemed to step it up a notch for me- with grown up playful resounding throughout the collection. With summery smock dresses, ladylike co-ords and sports style scuba inspired pieces (but, y’know, literally)- the pieces summed up everything I love about Kate Spade, and it’s safe to say I already have a bit of a wish list going on already!
I had such an exciting and whirlwind couple of days that I also popped a little vlog together below to try and illustrate everything a bit better (as nobody really needs to see the 500+ pictures I actually took), so let me know if you enjoy that too! Thank you so much Kate Spade & co for the most amazing couple of days too!
