From The Archive: 2013

With magazine placements on the side, 2013 was the last year I juggled blogging as a side gig. Things get a bit girlier in the style department too, with a lorra love for the sixties and a 'hive!

(Hat: Topshop, Top: C/O Gudrun Sjoden, Jeans: American Apparel Easy Jean, Shoes: Charlotte Olympia, Bag: Mybag.com, Jewellery: C/O Alex Monroe for Evans)

It’s no secret that a striped top and some lipstick is definitely my day to day uniform when I’m feeling less than adventurous (read: lazy). After oversized grey sweatshirts (think Audrey Hepburn singing ‘Moon River’) they’re my absolute staple, and I’m pretty sure I’ve gone from having one for every day of the week to one for every day of the month. Trust me, there really is that many types of stripes one can have in their wardrobe. So, when I was kindly introduced to Gudrun Sjoden I was hugely impressed by their vast collection of classic Breton tees and the fact they’re pretty economically friendly- double points there. Additionally, it’s one of the softest cotton tops I own and feels like a big striped cuddle every time I wear it- perfect.

As you may have noticed, I’ve also gone large with the accessories with this outfit- which although is slightly different for me, when it’s gold, interesting and subtle- I’m happy to go to town. I added some pieces from the gorgeous Alex Monroe for Evans collection, which, when I heard about the collaboration made me pretty excited indeed. I’ve been a big big fan of Alex Monroe for a while and the delicate charm jewellery, however haven’t yet been able to afford one of their stunning mainline pieces. However, this collection was the perfect way of dipping my toes into the Monroe water- and after trying a few pieces together and realising how high quality and wearable they were, am certainly tempted to try some more…

I was also lucky enough to receive some goodies from family company, Thomas The Baker. I am always thrilled to be asked to review a product on my little blog, but when it’s fresh cakes and preserves- well, that’s a whole different matter. I was thrilled to receive these delicious treats, all of which are freshly baked and to an exceptionally high quality- and my family were just as happy to help me devour them (‘that lemon drizzle was REALLY good’-Papa P). The kind people at Thomas The Baker have also offered my readers 10% off any online orders using the code ‘BLOGGER10’, which in my opinion is the perfect inopportune to treat yourself or a loved one- because hey, everyone loves cakes- right?
